Wilhelma - The zoological and botanical garden Stuttgart
The garden Wilhelma was initially built as a private retreat for the King of Swabia, Wilhelm I. In the middle of the 19th century the preference of the kings lay on buildings in Moorish style, so the garden was also laid out in this style. As a model, Wilhelma was inspired by the Alhambra in Granada, Spain; Wilhelma also received the name "Alhambra am Neckar".
Today, several million visitors come to the garden every year to observe the exotic plants and animals.
